Clockwork Orange
A novel written by Anthony Burgess, first published in 1962. It has since become a cult classic and is perhaps most famous for its adaptation into a film directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1971. The story is set in a dystopian future and follows the life of a young delinquent named Alex DeLarge, who leads a gang of “droogs” (friends) in committing violent crimes.
The ongoing violence impacts children on both sides. They experience trauma, loss, and fear,
and many grow up in environments of hostility. Efforts for peace aim to break this cycle and
ensure that future generations do not grow up with hatred and violence.
